An Arranged Marriage Is Not So Good...

The return of John Gibbons (Catcher '90) to Lackawanna County wasn't uneventful. Brian Gibbons, (hopefully no relation), couldn't keep his head out of his ass and ejected Steve Carver. Marc Bombard did something I'm very proud of. He got LIVID in Gibbons' face. Mark stood up strong for his man and showed a lot of character. Marc, we salute you!! As far as the games went....QUICKLY!! We had 6 hits in 13 innings. They had 9 hits in 14 innings. Great pitching by Rod, Joe, Darryl, and Billy Brewer to preserve the 2nd game's slimmest of margins which saw us finally win a 1-run game!

ARKANSAS WHAT?

In honor of this occassion, having 6 hits in 13 innings, we will individually recognize ANYONE who got a hit and what happened.

THE COLUMN THAT MAKES YOU WANNA HIT MORE!

Here's that Choke Artist Dave Lefchak (LeBeouf's Enough) with his "two hits!"
MY TWO CENTS
by Dave Lefchak
August 5, 1999

The Barons salvaged a split in the doubleheader against Nawfuck. The support
of Rod wasn't enough in game one, as the Tides swept away the Barons with a
3-2 victory, yet another one-run loss for the Barons. The unlikely hero of
game two was Joe Grahe, who went five strong innings to get the victory!
Darryl Scott and Billy Brewer shut the door on a 2-1 triumph. Here are my
insightful ramblings:

Arkansas blast from Bobby Estalella in a losing cause in game one.... it was
a nice shot, Bobby. Sorry it got wasted. We weren't that great all around
offensively tonight, but we made up for it with pretty good pitching!
Especially from Joe Grahe! Give that man an oxygen mask!

The batters were extremely talkative tonight in the on-deck circle. The Fan
Club conversed with Steve Carver, John Finn, Lou Lucca (who is up to the
"same old stuff"), and Torey Lovullo. The presence of the fan club in the
season ticket section is what propelled the Barons to the victory.

BRING BACK CLEMENTE ALVAREZ!!!!!!!! We can carry 3 catchers!!!!!

Tonight's Trojan Boner of the Game Award goes to home plate umpire Brian
Gibbons. Brian Gibbons is a JOKE!!! He ejected Steve Carver with one out to
go in game one for arguing balls and strikes! It was great when the whole
stadium got behind Bombard when he get right in Gibbons' face and let him
have it! Way to go, Marc! Gibbons started with Fesh in Durham, show him NO
MERCY!!!!!!!!!!! Honorable mention to the Red Barons' offensive output in
game one, which consisted of two hits.

Welcome back Jon Zuber! Will someone please explain to me how Zuber
constantly draws walks? It's uncanny to see, you'd really think he was a big
power hitter or something. It's time to break out of the slump, Jon!

By the way, the umpires cost us yet another game. Whoever the first base
umpire was for game one screwed us with a call at the end of the 4th inning
that gave the Tides a run. Apparently, Lou Lucca's throw pulled Steve Carver
off the bag at first and the ump called him safe. Clearly, this was not the
case. They better get their heads out of their asses for the rest of this
homestand, or else.................................

That's my two cents, gang. And always remember, enjoy the FESHtival.
